Job Description
- We are looking for a News Assistant who can help craft unique economy-focused ideas that tell that story.
- The candidate must be an all-rounder with a keen interest in economics who can handle stories from equities, the macro economy, companies and commodities, to international relations, trade deals, and lively news features.
- But they must also be a self-starter, with the drive to work sources and come up with fresh ideas in support of other colleagues in Vietnam and across Asia.
- The role is primarily related to financial news, but the candidate must demonstrate a strong understanding of political news too.
- An understanding of telling stories through images as well as words is important and the successful candidate will work closely with our pictures and video teams.
Job Requirements
- A passion for dominating the news from Vietnam, from breaking stories to deeply reported initiatives
- A proven ability to independently report and write spot news, as well as conceive and execute enterprise stories that set Reuters apart
- Fluent Vietnamese
- Excellent English and an ability to write stories quickly under pressure
- A developed understanding of Vietnam’s economy and its financial systems
- Experience working as a journalist is preferred
- A track record of breaking news and building sources
- Ability to turn to any aspect of news coverage when required
- Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to work effectively in a team
- Ability to take pictures and/or shoot video would be an advantage
- Experience in long-form and/or multimedia journalism is an advantage
